Cat and Fishy - By Diya Bapat and Addy Moreno

Diya's Note: How we thought of this story is... I wanted the story to be about fish. Addy wanted the book to be about cats. So we called it Cat and Fishy and worked on it together at school. Cat and Fishy hope  you like their story.


CHAPTER 1
Differences 

"Cat, it is cold here! I live in really hot places."

"Well, I love it!" replied Cat.

"Of course you love it, you have a warm fur coat! I'm just covered in scales", said Fishy.

"Well, you said you wanted us to have a playdate."

"Ok, how about you see where I live? Let's go!"

"Wait, wait, wait!", said Cat, "we need to go across water?!?"

"Don't worry, it's only a little swim and I made you a little raft."

"Thanks, let's go!"

"We're here!" said Fishy.

"But it is so hot here. I'm covered in warm fur. You're just covered in nice, cold scales."

"Well then, let's get out of here", said Fishy.

"Maybe you can come to the snowy, snowy high peaks to see me catch my prey", said Cat.

So Fishy got prepared. She packed hot cocoa, a blanket, a chair, newspaper, a pillow and hot seaweed cakes. And off they went.

As Cat was explaining how to hunt, Fishy was reading the newspaper with news about dolphins and coral. A dolphin named Travis was saving a dying coral reef.

Cat came out and growled at Fishy.

"What?" asked Fishy.

"You just wanted to stay out of the cold!" growled Cat.

"Yes, so what?"

"You didn't watch me hunt" snarled Cat, and showed his teeth.

"Oh my!" gasped Fishy.

"Show me how you hunt, Fishy!" said Cat.

Fishy said OK and Cat got prepared for the trip. He packed his books, newspaper, cat glasses, a chair and icy icicles. Then he got into his scuba suit - CLANK! BONK! FLANK! WONK! TWIST! BOOM! Cat was ready to go.

As Fishy was showing how she lures her prey, Cat was reading a book called All About Cats. When Fishy came over to see if Cat had any questions, my, my, she saw much more! She yelled at Cat. Cat was frightened when he heard that yell.

"BYE!" said Cat.

"Come back here!" said Fishy.

CHAPTER 2
Apart

After Fishy caught up with Cat they took a few minutes to decide they should go their separate ways.

Fishy reached her destination which was none other than Fishyville. Suddenly she heard an alarm. "Oh no, they must think I'm an intruder! I need to go see my sister Elisbeth, she will know I'm not an intruder." Elisbeth told everyone that Fishy wasn't an intruder and so they threw a party, fishy style!

At Cat Mountain, Cat learned the amazing way it felt to finally be a real cat. He did miss Fishy a little bit but not that much.

Meanwhile, back in Fishyville, Fishy was singing in her home of coral. She was happy because it was her first day back at fishy work. Fishy, are you wondering why I'm saying she? It's because you ARE a "she"!

"WHAT?!?!" screamed Fishy. "No need for this bow tie then!"

Meanwhile in Cat Mountain, Cat was doing much more than Fishy. He was getting to be King of the Cats. There was a really big ceremony. All cats were invited.

Fishy got to sort clean water from dirty water. She turned on the water pump and said, "All up and running!" Then she started sorting.

Meanwhile, Cat was awake and having three guards brush his fur in the third royal bathroom. Cat was thinking, "It's nice being a royal" as he slipped on his royal slippers.

Next morning, Fishy got dressed all fancy because she was getting an award for how hard she's been working. She was super-duper-quadruple excited for her awards!

As Cat was doing his royal duties, he heard a lead soldier was deadly injured. Cat had to put a new royal guard in charge. But who?

Meanwhile, Fishy was not having a good day. Nothing was going right for her. A different fishy got the hard worker award.

CHAPTER 3
Friendship

Cat had the guards race to see who would be the royal guard in charge. The only two guards left were Niko and Stripes. They were doing the final challenge. But who would win? Cat hoped Niko would win.

And Fishy, she had been looking for a new job that would make her famous too. Finally, she became a doctor and started to earn a lot of money.

Niko won! Cat was really happy. Niko looked fierce guarding the castle. He even guarded the castle at night!

Fishy went home and opened a big jar of money and put $30 in! She thought she was very, very rich.

Next day in Catville, a dragon attacked! Niko and the other guards couldn't stop him. One of the guards told Cat to escape in a little submarine as the kingdom went up in flames.

Fishy was swimming in the pond until... she was lost! She found a little island to rest on. Then she remembered she had lived on that island when she first met up with Cat. She missed him.

Then suddenly, Fishy heard a loud THUD! Fishy wasn't sure what it was.

Cat stepped out of the submarine and ran to Fishy. They hugged each other as tight as they could. Fishy took out friendship necklaces that she bought with her money. They each put it on. Then Fishy and Cat had a picnic in the submarine and shared their adventures with each other.

When they returned to the island, they had to go through a deep, dark forest to get back home. Two hunters trapped Cat in a net! Fishy had no idea what to do. She knew she has very pointy scales on her tail. She carefully took a scale out of her tail and cut Cat free while the hunters away.

Cat snarled at the hunters when they returned to get him. They were so scared by that snarl that they ran up a tall hill and were never to be seen again.

As Fishy and Cat were walking home, they opened up their Fishy-Cat Adventure Kit and put their souvenirs inside. They were glad they were friends again.

When they reached home, two kids named Batlet and Hoot asked, "Can we join your club?"

Fishy and Cat said, "Yes!!" And now their adventure kit had a new name - the FCBHA Kit.
