Mint's Adventures: Mint's Lagoon Adventure

Once in Turtle Lagoon lived Mint, a little 6-year old turtle. One day, he asked his mom, "Why do we always catch butterfly fish? Why can't we catch damselfish like the crocodiles?"
"Because they are faster than us and have sharper teeth than us," said Mother Turtle.
"Well," said Mint, "I'm going to try to catch a damselfish!"

So he went to Crocodile Kingdom. At feeding time, Mint tried catching a damselfish but they were too fast and he couldn't grab them because he didn't have sharp teeth. So he went back to his home. He told his mom about what had happened.

She said, "See? I was right!"
"Well," said Mint, "I am now going to...Shark Kingdom!"
At feeding time, Mint tried catching a lionfish but they were too fast and too spiky. So he went home and told his mom about his adventure at Shark Kingdom.

Next day, he said to his mom, "Now, I am going to go to the Reef of Mimic Octopuses!"
He swam all the way to the reef. At feeding time, Mint tried to catch a giant shrimp. But the giant shrimp was too fast and too hard to eat. So he went home and told his mom about his adventure at the Reef of Mimic Octopuses.

Next day, he told his mom, "Today, I am going to Whale Kingdom." So he went to the whale kingdom.
He asked a little sperm whale, "What do you eat?"
The little sperm whale replied, "We eat parrot fish."
Mint thought, "WOW! Those fish are super super super big. Well, there's no harm in trying."
So, at feeding time, he tried to catch a parrot fish but it was too big and too fast.
He went home and told his mom about his little adventure in the whale kingdom.

Next day, he told his mom he is going to Dolphin Kingdom.
Mother Turtle said, "Okay, but be careful."
"Okay!" said Mint.
So he set off to Dolphin Kingdom.
At Dolphin Kingdom, Mint asked one of the dolphins, "What do you eat?"
The dolphin said in a high squeaky voice, "I eat rainbow fish."
Mint thought, "How hard can it be to catch a rainbow fish?"

As he was waiting for feeding time, Mint was reading his favorite book called Super Turtle. He was reading the last chapter and it said, "Make a plan before you act." Mint thought to himself, "I need to think this through."

So he thought it through. He remembered that most fish are fast. He could hide, so when a fish came by he could snatch the fish. Mint found a hiding spot in the rocks and coral. He waited and he waited. Finally, a rainbow fish came by. Mint waited for the right time, then he dashed out and...caught the rainbow fish!

He was so happy he rushed home to tell his mom. When Mother Turtle heard Mint's story, she called all her friends. The next day, Mint went to the park and saw... All the turtles in the lagoon were yelling, "MINT! MINT! MINT!"
"What is all this?!" asked Mint.
Mother Turtle walked up to him and said, "Mint, we're cheering for you because you proved to all of us that we don't need to catch one type of fish. We can catch all types of fish now, thanks to you!"

Mint got an award for his grit and no turtle had to catch only butterfly fish ever again.
